99 2.0L engine

has anybody changed a head on this engine, if so have they replaced the intake cam? does anyone know if a person can just put another like cam in its place? My cam broke when installing a different head. Need Help

Did you break the cam or the pulse wheel? I cant imagine a cam breaking.

Anyways, you can put a new cam in there as long as its for the same 2.0L zetec. You might even be able to use the cam from the 2.0L contour. Btw, because the tappets, cam, and cam retainers all wear together, its best to pick those up to when swapping in a used cam.

yes the cam broke right in the middle. The engine blew a head gasket, took the head to have it resurfaced, went to reinstall and the cam got bound up and to much pressure and broke. People that I talked to say not any cam for that engine will work, have to buy a different head and get the 2 cams for it. Or the other option is buy a new cam and have it machined for the head, don't want to spend alot of money going to sell after it is fixed. Costing to much to keep.

Well, im not sure if the cams vary from the 2.0L zetec cougar, contour, and focus, but I would just play it safe and get a cam from a 2.0L cougar. Im pretty sure they were all the same for the cougar. Might want to check out the actual cougar enthusiast forums. They would know better than I do. www.newcougar.org.
