If it has a 125 c transaxle (3 Speed automatic)it is located under the side transmission pan accesable from the passenger side engine compartment. You may have to lower the frame mount bolts to get the pan to come out. It looks like a small rectangular metal bracket attached to the valve body with small bolts. it has usually 2 wires going to it. remove the bolts and pull in the direction that the botlts came out . It has a small o ring on it to seal the tcc apply pressure. Some replacements come with a seperate ground wire. Follow the instructions supplied with your new solenoid.

Give us some hints.
year and engine and what transmission and mileage.
What is it doing or not doing?
What solenoid are you after?
Any code no or check engine lights?

sorry for not listing the details lol.its a 1993 Chevy Cavalier 4-Door RS 3.1 MFI motor. Like when I start up the car when its cold the transmission is fine but when the transmission gets hot thats when it starts to act up. I can only go through 2 gears nothing above. Like sometimes when it trys to shift down when i get to a red light it shakes really bad an stalls an hard to start it up an go into gear because it would be stuck in 2nd gear trying to shift out.It has about 150,000 miles on it.I am after the transmission solenoid because thats what I thought is the problem. If anyone has a similiar problem to this an know whats wrong can you please tell me because I have no clue what it could be. The autozone people said it could be the transmission solenoid. An i Haven't check for codes yet.

I'm not positive on the 3/4T60s, but I believe that the manual spool prevents any pressure to the TCC circuit if the selector is not in D or OD. Am I mistaken? If that's the case, manually shifting should take the TCC completely out of the picture.

Have you checked the fluid level when good and hot?
The problem when you stop could be the lock up solenoid.
But the no upshift in to higher gears sounds like another problem.
If you have only fist and second gear and no more upshifts.
You need to get a good repair shop to have a look at the upshifting problem.

Ya, i tackled at it today but I couldn't get wheres the location. I put the car up on jacks an looked under there but couldn't seem to find it? I haven't done transmissions before.Once i start to get hang of it i probaly start doing transmissions but i do know everything else though but just not transmission lol. What is the best way to get to this transmission solenoid? Am i suppose to take off the transmission pan to find this transmission solenoid? Or am i suppose to take off anything except the transmission solenoid to be able to reach this transmission solenoid?

Step 1: Jack up the front end, or at least the driver's side front end
Step 2: Take off wheel
Step 3: Take off the wheel well plastic lining crap, small bolts and a few torx if I remember correctly
Step 4: Remove all the bolts on that pan that'll be staring at you, yes, its actually the side of the transmission. You're gonna have to scrape that gasket off, too. Its kinda crumbles apart when you take it off the cover.
Step 5 : Take this thing out, use your new Solenoid for comparison of what you're removing

Step 6: Splice the new one in, bear in mind "red wire" will probably mean "brown wire" b/c tranny fluid is mean like that
Step 7: New Gasket.
Step 8: Put it back together, top off your tranny fluid, go for a test drive.
