Hello
Just an adder to the below. I checked the valve on the engine for pressure of fuel.
There was no fuel coming out.
I have done this in the past and fuel has come out. I have been told that if no fuel it could be a fuel pump or maybe a block filter? i realize there isn't alot of psi to this valve check, but know i have nothing. I tried to listen for the fuel pump hum after key is turned forward. I believe i heard it. Like i have said once started and running it purrs . If a fuel pump i heard it may start to buck , but that has not happened
any other ideas.
i have a 1990 PONTIAC Gran Prix. that all of a sudden seems to take 3-4-5 times to start. This is just resent. Last week after starting once it seemed very rough and sputtering , but then cleared up. Also I have noticed at time after starting it is at a high rpm. Once started though it runs smoth with no hesitation or shakes. In the last 2 years I have changed the ignition module and the crank shaft sensor. New battery. Also the oil leak was fixed on the plug under the valve body. Any ideas ?
The fuel pump was replace about 10 years ago. I have not changed the fuel filter nor the plugs or wires. The car runs so very smooth and quick i never assumed wires, plugs or filter to be an issue. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Also once started i can shut it off and try again and it response on first kick. We has had alot of rain lately and now cold temps with snow.
Thanks for everyones time

I'm betting you have a bad fuel pump.

Really...i Was Hoping It Was A Never Changed Fuel Filter. I Replased That Pump About 10 Years Ago. Will It Still Make The Humming Noise When Key Is Turned And Still Be Bad? Seems After Starting It Rev's High Until I Kick The Gas Peddle

Since you haven't tuned it up, I'd try that first, including the neglected fuel filter. I thought you said you didn't hear the pump, so I mis-read your updated post. It's always better to replace normal maintenance items first when you have a problem, rather than the expensive and hard to change parts first.
