I was wondering how diffucult and expensive it would be to convert a dual climate ac system to the single basic climate system, i know i would have to get the basic ac head unit but im sure theres lots of other things needed to be done too, i was just wondering how hard and expensive it would be, i hate the dual climate feature, and im sure i speak for alot of people who have that too its such a pain in the a** whenever something goes wrong one side will be cooler then the other.:banghead:

There is to much involved and not worth doing the conversion. Wiring, head unit, electrical actuators, vacuum actuators, blower motor resistor/module and blower motor are all different.
Probably cheaper just to get the HVAC system professionally checked out when the time comes. The problems that pop up like difference in air between driver and passenger sides is fixable.

wow yeah that is alot, definetly not worth it. im just bummed cause i had my ac redone last summer, got a new vacum pump, i think he checked for freon leaks, got the freon filled, new ac head unit, and now the air blows slightly warmer on the drivers side. i know thats a classic and common dual climate problem. although i did have to use my heat when it got cold here, then i just started using the ac again as it got warmer of course, could switching from hot to cold suddenly have done something???

If the refrigerant charge is good then the problem may be elsewhere. Have the mechanic check the temperature actuators and all the vacuum lines and components operated by vacuum. Because it is dual climate there is one of each to control registers that will either block off airflow or redirect it. Sounds like heat is still flowing when it should be blocked off. The driver's side one is harder to get at and inspect. It is located on the left side of the HVAC evaporator/heater assembly. It is electrical motor driven and can be checked to make sure it is closing properly. Movement can be seen when the driver's side temperature is manually controlled.
Also, after years of use the evaporator core could be partially blocked off by dust, debris, mildew affecting airflow through it. Removing it and cleaning may help restore cooling and make it even across the whole face of the evaporator. The problem is it is a lot of disassembly work and the system will need to be evacuated and recharged again.

actually yeah i forgot to mention too i got a new evaporator core also when the ac was worked on. ill check the vacum to make sure it is moving properly. i need to get my coolant flushed anyway so im gonna have him check it out.
