water pump replacement 90 Tercel

I'm considering buying a 90 Tercel that's in fairly good condition. The seller says the water pump needs replacing. Is this a difficult job? AND what other things might I look for that might need repair? It has 96k mi on it & automatic trans.

The girlfriend inherited her 90 tercel from her mothers estate. 80,000 kms on the car when she got it.
The water pump isn't an easy job. if you're going to replace the pump, replace the timing belt at the same time.
If it's the carbureted 1.5 3E engine, I definitely wouldn't buy it. The carburetor is an abomination to say the least, even the dealer won't touch it. I've had to spend countless hours on the car and most of the jobs are a major pain in the ass to say the least. I don't know about anyone else's feelings on the car, but I rate the jobs not on a 1 to 10 scale, but in cursing and blood loss ;)
Still sucks gas, runs about 250 to 300 kms to the tank.
