Hello, HELP! I am a new member and I looking for some help on how to remove a supercharger on my 1998 Pontiac Grand GTP. I have purchased a rebuilt unit that I’ll need to install.

Thanks.

Its pretty simple.

1. release pressure in gas line. ie removing gas cap/ or use shrader valve on fuel rails.

2. Remove 4 bolts holding down the fuel rails. Set them aside. there is no need to disconnect the fuel lines from the rails

3. There are 3 bolts holding the throttle body onto the supercharger. u will lose a few drops of coolants when removing tb.

4. Now remove the bolts holding down the supercharger. There are a couple by the snout that are hard to see,

Ripn12s,
Wow! sounds real easy, thank you, so there is no need for me to go out and buy a special tool to remove the injectors?

The injectors are a simple press fit that slip into the manifold and the fuel rail. You may want to purchase a fuel line disconnect tool from autozone or another parts store so you can disconnect the fuel lines but it is not absolutely necessary since you can move it out of the way. One thing, make sure to label everything like any lines or wires you remove so you can put everything back correctly. Also if you remove the injectors, you may want to replace the o-rings while you have them out. (You will need to remove the fuel rail from the injectors or the manifold to get the fuel lines out of the way.) You can purchase them from either a dealer or Advance auto parts. Lubricate the o-rings before you reinstall them, vasoline works well.

Another suggestion would be to use compressed air and blow out any crap that might be laying by the injectors. That way when u remove them nothing will fall into the holes. You dont need to remove the injectors from the rails, you dont need a fuel line disconnect. Just remove the 4/5 bolts and use the windshield wipers to hold the entire assembly out of the way.

When taking the throttle body off the supercharger be carefull. the supercharger is aluminum and will strip if you arent careful. I had to rethread the supercharger on one of the locals cars because he got torque happy and cranked the bolts too much

Another suggestion. Im not sure if the rebuilt S/C comes complete w/ a pulley. You may need to use old pulley. To remove it you need a pulley tool to swap pulleys. Its not cheap. You can see one at thrasher.com...Also you cant use a standard gear puller. At this point you may want to consider a smaller pulley and colder plugs to help break in that brand new S/C....Good Luck....

Definitely buy new injector o-rings. I'd hate to hear about your car burning up because you didn't replace a $15 set of o-rings and raw fuel leaked onto your intake and run off to the exhaust.

Don't forget to put in a new supercharger gasket and coolant passage o-rings. It is important to properly torque all key bolts. See below:

Fuel Rail Retainer Bolts = 97 inch-lbs
Throttle Body Bolts = 89 inch-lbs
Supercharger to Intake Manifold Bolts = 17 ft-lbs

Good luck!
