Has anyone raced a stock GT vs a GTP? What was the outcome? What are differences the specs as in Horsepower and Torque?

Stock GT versus stock GTP? For one I would not waste my time. Unless the GTP has problems or a real mediocre driver it is no contest.
'97 - '03 GTP 240 hp 280 ft-lbs torque
'97 - '03 GT 200 hp 225 ft-lbs of torque
Although they tried I have never been beaten by a GT.

Yeah stock GT and GTP. I remember once my supercharger tentioner went, so my belt wasn't on therefor I lost my supercharger. I noticed the power difference right away, big loss in power. I race people sometimes and I'm sick of people in GT's thinking they have can beat a GTP, I guess I'll have to line them up! I mean if you're running with some mods then all the props to you....but if you're running stock stop trying to think you're the sh#t, basically most people who don't have a GTP and have a GT usually want to have the power that the GTP has!

A guy in a stock GT thinking he can beat a GTP is like a guy in a V-6 Camaro thinking he can run with a V-8, it's not gonna happen! It's like ricers slapping a gaudy wing and a fart can muffler on mom's Accord and thinking they're Fast and Furious Boy for crying out loud!

To balance it, they are both good cars for their intended purpose.......after all both Pontiacs. :bigthumb:

I'm 100% in agreement with you Bob. I love my GT, but I'm not out trying to beat GTP's either. I bought the GT because I didn't want to have to use premium fuel. If I had the money and garage space, I'd probably have a GTP too, as the giddy feeling of whupping a Mustang with a FWD "grocery getter" must be awesome.

Yeah you can get groceries, fit 5 full sized people, store your golf clubs and still kick a**.
I bought the GT because it was going to be a daily driver. The 3.8 NA isn't a slouch either as we all know.
Hail to the Pontiacs!

Identical inside and out. Of course, options may vary. I've seen fully loaded GTs with all the beeps and bells. They are both winners in my book.

I have, good race. Felt sorry for the guy. But the GTX wasn't even close to being stock.

yea i noticed they have V8 engines too, pretty cool. whats up with those grand prix SE editions i see around sometimes? i dont see too many of those and i noticed a slight difference in the way they look from the GT and the GTP's, im sure they dont have as much engine power either right? i think i even saw an SE online with the gear shifter behind the steering wheel instead of it between the front seats, anyone else ever see that too?

The SE is a base model, and comes standard with a column shifter and 3100 V-6. The older SE's had a different front and rear facia, and no ground effects or rear wing. The front facia had the grill below the headlights, where the GT/GTP has the grill between them, much better looking in my book. You could order the SE with the 3800 and rear wing, but not the Ground effects.

Oh, is that the difference?
When I drove a Grand Prix for the first time before I bought mine (rental car after car was totaled) it was a 04' SE with the 3.8L in it.
I thought the exhaust was the only difference other than internal features.

yea i noticed the SE's have hubcaps too rather then actual alloy rims

There are many other differences, single vs dual mufflers, steel 15" wheels with hub caps vs aluminum 16"er's, just to name a couple. IF you are looking for a GP, get a GT or GTP, the SE is more basic transportation.
