when i turn the temp knob to heat, no heat comes out, the temp of the air coming out of the vents doesnt change. i do not hear any vents operating as i turn the temp knob. fan speed and air direction knobs work fine, i just replace the blower motor resister. there is no smell of antifreeze or moister build up on the front window. how can i check the temp control knob?

first, check to make sure that you have sufficient amount of coolant in the resevoir. After that, you can proceed to diagnosing if you have a bad manual head unit.

i checked the water level and it was normal, how can you check the head unit? and another problem when i step on the gas pedal from a stop and sometimes when i start the car i see a puff of white smoke, the car doesnt seem to have the accelaration like it should, the engine lags during accelaration. 2.7 engine

your head gasket's blown. That explains why you are having heater problems b/c you don't have sufficient coolant in the system.

Did you ever find out if the problem with your heater was caused by the blown head gasket? I'm having the exact same heating problem, even after the blower motor resistor was replaced.

it was the acutator which opens and closes the door that regulates hot and outside air on the air condition unit under the dash
