Wife put the jumper cables on backwards and blew everything up. after changing all the fuses, fusable links.... etc. and both the comps under the hood, and the one under the dash. the car will start. run for 3 sec. then turn off. i ran noid lights on the injecters. they seem fine, ran a test light on the spark plugs, they were firing up untill it dies, put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail, its reading 40 psi, where it should be.
any ideas? changed out the relays on the auto shut down thing. been to 4 shops and the dealership.
please help!!

The computer is "toast" and that is a way to ruin a computer. My father once bought a Dodge pick up that way beacuse someone hooked up the jumper cables up backwards and put in an used computer. The truck ran after putting the used computer in.

Did you tested the alternator, the diodes from the alternator usually go busted by reverse jump and creates short.

it might be possible that you have a computer that was equipped with the sentry key immobilizer system. If that's the case, you'll have to either have that deactivated or get another computer that doesn't have the immobilizer to it.

well, there really isn't a way to deactivate the immobilizer. Does your car have a factory alarm w/ the original key fob?

car does NOT have any factory keyfob, or alarm of any kind.

where did you get your replacement computer? From a dealer or from a junkyard? If you bought it used, chances are you got one that was equipped with the immobilizer system.

Next thing to consider is since the jumper cables were on backwards, it took out more than just the PCM, it probably took out the TCM (transmission control module) or BCM (body control module). These cars rely heavily on network interfacing and if one leg of the network is wiped out, you'll have a wide variety of problems.

i called the dealership, they told me what #'s to look for on the repacment, and that any one of them would work. i ended up getting a refurb of the EXACT same #, but it still wont start.
