Just put on new tires on my '94 Cherokee Sport.(130,000 miles) I thought this noise was coming from old tires..(have not had it very long)...It is a "thumping" noise from front end until I apply brakes...The thumping speeds up and down with speed of vehicle...It is a 2WD...Could it be a brake/rotor/caliper problem?......Thanks,Pete44

It sounds like either a warped rotor or maybe a bad wheel bering.

I've got the same problem, but I just replaced the wheel bearings
and it still didn't help, $100 later, Any other Ideas?

They don't have CV joints (rubber boot packed with grease). Since you replaced your bering/hub, is the noise/vibration gone?

Took my Jeep to top-line tires and they had to replace rotors and did rear brake job...FIXED my problem!...no more noise and it stops on a dime...$205.....(ouch)save you $90 in labor if you do it yourself...Hope this helps....Pete44

One way to check if it is a bad bearing is to jack up the front (tire off the ground) and try to move the wheel both side to side, as well as up and down. If it move abnormally its a bad bearing.
If not, its probably a bad (warped) rotor. You can only remove so much metal from the rotors, so I recommend that you find one of those 'life time guaranty' brake shops and replace the brakes. If you do some home work you can find a good sale on these repairs.
You can probably do this your self, but if something goes wrong in the future you stuck doing it YOURSELF all over again. The 'lifetime' thing makes them do the work for little to no cost for you.
