so yea, i'm tired of my focus and i think i'm gonna sell it to buy a VW Corrado. i don't even know why i bought this car in the first place, not that there's anything wrong with it because it has been reliable, but it's just not my style. i don't have as much fun with it as i thought i was gonna. now the tricky part is convincing the wife this is a good idea, so far she hasn't taken the bait, but i'm gonna keep trying. so until then i'll be driving my boring old focus.

Dude i wouldnt advise that honestly. [buying new car]
The focus is just what u need. Its reliable, safe and a very predictable family car. This is a roomy car to put your kids and friends in with creative european design.
Also you are not 16 anymore dude. You have to think of your family and what benefits this car will bring to not just you but the everyone and since you are married, rather than buy a whole new or used car and spending thousands i would stay with the focus and continue to take care of your family. I mean honestly you arnt going to be going 100 miles an hour with ur buddies anymore, ur an adult besides its just transportation from point a to b as i see it just with unique styling that really stands out from most rides as from my prospective.
But it dont matter what the hell i think its ur life so can do whatever u want to do. If you do decide to buy a new car i would suggest instead of a vw corrando a vw passat or jetta. No suv please, with gas prices its unbelieveable how much it costs to pay for a gallon of gas nowadays. I hope that everything goes well for you and ur family just make the right choices and stick with the Focus.

thanks for the advice man i really appreciate it, but i shoulda been more specific when i made that first post. we have a very relaible family car (2000 chevy blazer). the focus is my project car as i'm a car audio enthusiast and attending ritop school for mobile ectronics in july. i just want a project car i can have a little more fun in designing, the focus is just kinda blah. not to mention i have an LX model sedan, so that makes it even less appealing to me. i may just change my mind if i could find somebody to trade me for a hatchback, but i doubt that will happen. but like i said before the focus has been reliable, so i don't think i'll ever say anything bad about them, it's just not what i'm looking to make a project out of.

and who knows, maybe i'll just keep the focus for my daily driver and just buy a carrado just for project/show purposes. i might be lookin at buyin a junk corrado right now for like 600. if that's the case then i'll have to keep the focus for a while anyway.

I don't really see why your Focus has to be boring. If you want to dress up the exterior there are some wicked kits from WingsWest and more rim and tire combos that you can shake a stick at. If you are talking interior that can be done up nicely with racing seats or fabbing up a custom interior. It all depends on a) Your Budget, ALWAYS the killer.
b) What look you are shooting for. And if power is your game I saw an article on a 742HP bi-turbo 351 powered Fosus LE 4 dr sedan! All I'm saying is you have options, and consider it a challenge to your artistic sensibilities. I'm guessing someone like Chip Foose could make it rock and with a little planning so could you. My :2cents:

yea i decided not long after i last posted that i'm still gonna work on the focus, mainly the interior. i've been repainting EVERYTHING inside black and white. i'm going to do some custom fiberglass as well, but that won't be for another few months. i am going to have fun with this car for the simple fact that it's plain and i haven't been able to find anything on the internet that looks even close to what i'm thinking about doing to the interior. eventually down the road i will get a corrado, but for now i'm gonna stick with the focus. besides like i said i haven't had any problems mechanically, so i don't wanna go sinking my money into fixing up a car to run, i just wanna focus on the audio.

The Corrado was an awesome car, but I'd only get it for a project or toy car. The Focus ( too bad you have an LX and not a ZTS or ZX3 or even an SE) is a fun car and will be cheaper parts-wise then the VW. I don't know where you live, but there are not a lot of Corrados left on the road. Not as big of a deal now, as the VW parts bin is rather extensive, but some Corrado only parts might be difficult and expensive to find.
The Focus can be fun. The suspension is pretty advanced and I imagine handles nearly as well as the older Corrado. Try to find some 16 in. wheels for your LX and if you can afford to, mount some summer-only 205/50/16 V speed or higher rated tires on them ( keep the 15 inch for snows or all-seasons if only rain falls where you are during winter. Summer-only tires can be dangerous at less then 50 degrees, especially in the wet) You will not believe the difference in handling a set of 16 inch, summer-only tires makes
There are all kinds of mods for the Focus, unless your car is the 110 hp 2.0l SPI engine and not the 130hp 16v Zetec motor. Look around the net, you can make your Focus fun AND not have to buy a basketcase VW.
Good luck, whatever you decide.
