90 Cavalier Z24 stalling problems

1990 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24
3.1L V6, Standard

When I come to a stop light or stop sign or if I just hold in the clutch the engine will sputter and then die. Then I just turn the key and it starts and runs fine until I come to a stop again. It only does this after it has warmed up. If I ever take the car to highway speeds for about an hour it will not do this anymore, until it has been only driven at city speeds for about a week, at which point it starts to stall again. Any help is appreciated.

to the both of you, i would say to look at your spark plugs. wires, distributer. g/f's car had 3.1 in it and it was faulty plugs causing it to do the same thing. L8r dayZ

the reason why your car stops at the lights , is maybe you unhooked the battery.
theres this issue with the computer loosing idle memory
so you can either put the emergency brake on and put in in gear and sit there for about 5-10 min
or go to one of them emission type places where your car tire is on roller
it all about the computer learning the city street idle
that why it doesnt stall after highway use
