1982 Pontiac Grand Prix Motor Problem

Hi,
We have been having issues with our 1982 Pontiac Grand Prix. It has the 4.1L v6, and the motor *died. So, we had it rebuilt, and once again, not 2,000 miles later, it dies again. Unfortunately, the rebuilder had a bad guarentee deal, and we missed the deadline. So we pulled it apart, and replace the bad bearings. After a short time period, the bearings went bad (third time in 5,000 miles) again. The first time, it was the main bearings. Second was the rod bearings. After the second time, NO DETAIL WAS OVERLOOKED. We spent weeks plastigaging and making sure all the bearing were seated properly, as well as replacing the oil pump. We went by the book, you could say. So, it was very much to our surprise that it happened again, 2,000 miles later. Now, before we put it back together again, is there any history behind this happening with this motor? Is isn't the oil pump, as that was replaced the second time, but is it possible that the oil paths are blocked, causing too low a pressure? The first time it died, the screen for the pump was sucked up into the oil passages, restricting oil flow, and causing the problem. The rebuilder supposedly cleaned out the oil passages. Just want to know if that is a common problem for that particular motor, and what the fix is. Thanks

Is the 4.1l a v6 or a v8? Are there two different ones? I saw an article, displaying it as a v8, not a v6 as I said before. (I don't actually have the car, so I can't just go count the spark plugs lol.)

was the parts machined(ie: rods checked for roundness or block alinged honed) or were the bearings just changed? if some of these things were skipped over then these could lead to the problems your having.
