In a couple of weeks I'm gonna get a used intake cam from a wrecked 92 G20. Now I know the benefits of having the 91-93 intake cam, but what are the drawbacks? Will I also have to change the exhaust cam as well? What signs of damage/wear should I look for on the intake cam so I don't end up doing harm to my own engine?:(
Thanx 4 your help!

For those of you unfamiliar with the 91 intake cam, FYI: http://nismopc.tripod.com/SR20cam.htm

Actually, I don't know how much I'll be paying. Like I said, it'll be at a pick-n-pull junkyard here in San Antonio. I'll only be getting one since they only have one 92 G20. Sorry:( .

91-93 intake cams. The 93.5+ intake cams are less aggresive and less powerful.

Well you should be checking for pitting and wear on the bearing surfaces, and on the cam lobes them selfs. Find the cam with the least amount of visable wear.
Also if you can, pull the cam from the lowest millage engine first, and if possible pull more than one cam, so you can compare them. (I know, thats a lot of extra work.)
If you can't find a relativly unworn cam, then you can get them resurfaced.
I don't know how the SR20 cam bearings work (if they have a seperate bearing shell under the cap, or just bolt down caps), so you might not be able to resurface the bearing face on the cam, but the lobe can easily be redone by any good cam grinder.
