2004 Jetta GLI VIN problem

Hi everyone,
I've been looking for a source to help me with this problem.
This year I bought a new 2004 Jetta GLI 1.8T from my local VW dealership. I am looking to sell it now but when I pull up the vin number on carfax or even with my car insurance company, the car registers as a Jetta GLS. The car says GLI right on it and also on the paperwork I received from the dealership. So I am going to have problems selling the car as a GLI when every computer in the world says the vehicles VIN reports that it is a GLS (which is a cheaper package).
Anyone have any ideas or tips on what I should do about this?
Sincerely,
DJ Rave

Today I called VW's 1-800 number. They looked up my vin and it shows correctly on their computer as a GLI but I showed them where on my vin the 4th digit is an "S", and sure enough, they agreed the vin is wrong.
If you have a 04 Jetta GLI, the 4th digit in your vin should be the letter "V". If it's a GLS, the fourth letter is a "S".
VW stated I would have to send them a copy of the purchase agreement so they can fix the problem on their computers so it will reflect the correct model (GLI) when other places such as DMV and Insurance companies access my vin number.
So, If you have a 04 Jetta GLI, it wouldn't hurt to check your vin and make sure the 4th digit is the letter "V". Otherwise, you're in for a shock when selling time comes.
I hope this is helpful for someone else. :-)

As of today, VW is still investigating the VIN problem. Looks like it may take some time to fix. Has anyone else had this problem?

The final word from Volkswagen. The car I bought is a GLS with "GLI-like" equipment on it and they are not going to do anything to remedy the problem.
The sticker on my car said GLI so I guess I'll be going to court. Hope this info helps someone else out too. I'll keep yall updated if you want.

I bought an 04 GLI in Feb. I did notice that on my insurance cards that my insurance company has it as a GLS. I just thought they made a mistake, but the 4th letter in my VIN is an S. I guess I should call VW too.
