I have a 1989 Riviera. This Riviera also has the touch screen controls for climate, options, radio ect. The radio itself is located in the center console behind the shifter in my 1989. I believe the radio in yours is located here also. You will have to do some bit of disassembly to physically locate radio but it is there. I have had take my center console apart and that is where the radio and the 'computer' for the touch screen is located.

Have a 95 Riv now, but had an 86 and loved it. I recall the main radio "brain" being under the passenger seat. I had to send mine out for repair when I first bought it, as well as a new CRT behind the touch screen.
