ive recently concluded that i want more power. yes, just like every other kid on the board. this is my first post here..and hello all. i'm david, the proud owner of my 86 red porsche. (whats new). anyway, as i play aroudn and begin to learn my car, and how to become a better driver, the need for power plauges me as it has to every car owner. this car is a beauty, very reliable and gets me from point a to point b happily. it draws heads, handles great, and just sounds great. i sadly see this car as only a daily driver, which is a good and bad thing. a bad thing because i would prefer a daily track loving driver. though my lifestyle cannot include my desire, the desire for this is there and will soon be fulfilled. i plan on sellin my car. i purchased this car about 6 months ago with all records. the guy whom i purchased it from put 3,000+ into it just november of last year. a generic list of items would be--hoses,o ring, speeed and reference sensors, distributer cap, ignition rotor,

timing belt, balance shaft belt,o rings, 4 break pads and machines 2 of them, steam cleaned engine, serpentine belt, ve belt, power steering hose, reservoir, fluid, break reservoir and clutch master hsoes, spark plugs, fuel filter (ive redone this), air filter, 4 front break pads and machined 2 of them, front break senors. valve job on the head, front spings, dash cover, pullys, motor bearings clutch and o2 sensor
it passes smog and exteriorly is fair. there are chips from freeway driving and a few door dings and other little dings here and there. a few problems though but nothing major. just got an oil change and powersteering recently repaired ( a bolt was missing causing the fluid never to reach ). paint is decent but needs one someday...the previous owner tried to tuch it it before it got to me...with nail polish on the chips and fading areas ( just above the driver door) tranny is fine. a little hesitation to get into reverse sometimes. missing a driver side sun visor and there is a crack in the dash supposedly (but with a nice cover heh) review mirror seems kidna out of it..

works fine but i strive for perfection..power door locks only works from the outside and the passenger door has a slight hesitation to bring the window up (works fine but seals may need replacing) interior is fair, some sun abuse. the hatch sometimes lets in water (going to fix this before i sell) and there is a deck in there with 4 4x6's that sound decent. the engine bay looks very nice wit han k &n air filter and the exaust went threw a problem. it kinda well burnt off one day from god knows what but was welded back on. the car was first owned by a doctor secondly by an older retired man and woman and now by me. almost no abuse (hey i tried to see what it was capable of) and no serious failures as of now (the fuel filter was just replaced and i thought it may be the timing belt (just changed 10k ago)) anyway...i was wondering how much i could get for this car from unsuspecting car owners. i paid 2300 for it, and i've seen them sell in this condition or lower for 6k. what do you guys think? sorry for the long post...but at least it gives someone something to read..i hope.. haha..well thanks...if pictures are desired, ask. name is david again..later

ps : im leaning toward the 968 with the 951's turbo..sounds like a cool plan...what do you guys think or am i better with a 951? ..thanks
pps... why does my oil pressure alwasy read above 4 when i am driving regularly and at around 3 at a stop? never below 3 and never at 5..what should it read regularly? why doesnt my blinker sometimes turn off? why doesnt my ebrake and other lights work in my dash? after the welding of my exaust back my car sounds a little worse, maybe a little less air flow? im not sure...it was burnt off all around and just welded back on..is this bad? should i get an exaust system or find a used na exaust? if an engine cannot breathe sufficiently how can this effect it? (it works fine...just a question...since it shakes sometimes too) when are the shift points for each gears...or how do i figure it out from the ratios?
and why cant i post this all in one thread?

Umm. 951. Parts and mods are cheaper and more available. If the bank account says 968 though, it won't let you down.
Oil pressure should read between 3 and 5 while driving and 1.5 - 3 while stopped. A weak ground may be causing the lower than expected pressure.
Blinker: Worn steering release finger. Easily fixed by building it up with electrical tape.
Exhaust: probably a leak is making it sound weird. No need for a new exhaust unless you enjoy origionality. A clogged exhaust would cause the engine to run hotter.
What year car? S, S2 model? I'd say sell for $6k. It'll help bring the value of everyone elses car up!
Your owners manual has theoretical speeds per gear charts in the back some where.

You're correct about the S
A used N/a exhaust would be cheap enough, and should stil last.
