Why is it rusting?!?

I've had my 5Zigen exhaust for about ten months now (been through an IL winter) and I just today noticed some various rust on sections of piping, and the rear (weld line?) of the muffler. It is one with a black coating (I think its some aluminum coating). Is there anything to worry about with this rust? And just out of curiousity, does the Apex-i N1 have the same black coating? Thanks.

There is nothing you can do to stop it friend. Black coated exhaust will rust. I live in the Quad cities (Davenport IA) and know how you feel. Winters are rough on cars.

You can put rust killer on it... Then coat it again, with exhaust coating.. Might help a little.

OK, I'm not really too worried about the looks, I'm just wondering how durable aftermarket exhausts are and if the rust is anything to worry about.

The rust killer is going to kill the rust, and stop it in it's tracks. The coating will only help prevent future rust, thus upping your durability.
