I too have reoccuring EGR issues and want to fix/add screen. Where is the EGR located and is it an easy fix for an everyday owner? Just recently (4 months ago) had EGR replaced and acting up again. I plan on selling vehicle asap once fixed as trade in or privately.

Thanks,

J

You should find the EGR valve right at the front of the intake manifold, just above the water pump and beside the thermostat housing.

You will probably need to remove the serp. belt and a support bracket for ease of removal.

I've never installed a screen so I'm not sure the difficulty. My guess is that the "screen" is possibly part of the new gasket.

If you are having that much carbon build-up though, the screen is just going to get plugged and set a different code for EGR inefficiency, or possibly an O2 Sensor code, because it is expecting different exhaust results with the EGR open.

Hope this helps.

Just to let yall know I installed a screen I made myself and have had no problems so far about 3-4 months now. It's better than having to take it off to remove the chunk of carbon sticking the valve open every week. With the screen they do suggest taking it off once and a while and cleaning it out.

Every 5,000-10,000 miles, remove the EGR and clean the screen. Two torx screws is all it is. The whole thing should take you 10 minutes if you are slow like me and like to take your time. :)
