exhaust question?

whats up...ok heres the deal...i wanna do my exhaust but don't want the jap fart-can. I wanted to do 2.25" piping from cat-back, then from 2.25 - 2.5 for the last 12", then it goes to a Hooker Aero Chamber muffler. I don't care about parasitic HP loss...b/c its not a big deal to me...I just want some more power. Would it be better to put the bigger piping before the smaller, or vice versa? Thanx guys

Probably the smaller then bigger... but i've never heard of this being done before...

why not the same size all the way out?
Not trying to be a smarta$$, just curious.

I put a high flow cat, high flow inline barrel muffler (under the cockpit) and then ajap fart 'resonator muffler' on the back, all this was on 2.25 pipe, mandrel bent. it's got a throaty tone and no 'blat' sound.

I did 'add' the inline barrel muffler because it sounded like crap w/out it.. it was VERY loud and obnoxious, I hated it.... after the inline, it sounds much better.

My advice is invest in a nice premade exhaust system. They tend to look cleaner, sound better, and cause less problems. I highly recommend a Mugen twin-loop silencer, it's by far the quietest I've heard. Try e-bay if you don't have $1000 bucks to drop on it though.

The thing is i just don't like the can in the back...I'm gonna go for the subtle sleeper look. Only its not so sleeperish. LOL I'm just gonna throw some 18's on it, lower it and put most of my money into the motor. I know 18's are too big for racing, but I also plan on getting a matching set of 15x7's and getting the Nitto555r tires. I have big plans for my lude!

why not the same size all the way out?

I just wanted to try something different(not sure if it'll work tho). Does any1 know if this will enhance/harm performance with the different size piping?

I would suspect that it's like the weakest link in a chain... a bottleneck is a bottleneck is a bottleneck, know what I mean?

BUT, if you find otherwise, be sure to let us know :)
