89 lude rear brakes

Hay guys I need some help
I am trying to change my rear brakes and I cannot get the caliper to collapse fully it is still handing out about an inch.
Is it a part of the emergency brake or what can I do??

Do you have the brake fluid cap off?

on every other car I have ever had I have never had this problem

put the top of the c clamp on the backside of the caliper, put the screw end of the c clamp against the plunger inside the caliper and crank it down until the plunger's flush with the inside of the caliper (you can also put the pad in and put the screw part of the c clamp on that, but you run the risk of dinging up your pad with the c clamp.

I have tried everything
Using a c clamp I put so much force on it I broke the clamp and still the plunger will not collapse
I have also tried opening the bleeder valve and nothing works the plunger is still hanging out

does yours have the notches in the plunger? I know Nissans have a 'screw in' mechanism.. I've never seen on on Hondas, but it's possible.

If it has notches, put a screwdriver in one and tap it clockwise, see if it's a threaded plunger. It might have to be screwed back down.

I believe it is a threaded plunger. Did you make sure the brake fluid cap is off while trying to compress the calipers?
