only honda i'd recommend a jackson racing supercharger for is the prelude. no other honda is worth it compared to turbo IMO. it actually helps quite a bit on preludes. still not as flexible as a turbo, you're kinda stuck with whatever it provides. but on preludes, it's not a bad alternative to a turbo. like whtteg said, check out the turbo/supercharger/n2o forum. if for any other honda, i'd recommend the turbo over the supercharger everytime. but being prelude-specific, i would certainly consider a supercharger as an option.

Sadly, supercharger applications are only available for the 5th gen Preludes. 4th genners are left out of the rain.

there have been a few people who have successfully retrofitted the JRSC into a 4th gen. involves more work and more hassle and not really worth it all IMO. but it's unique.

i personally think superchargers should not be used on a four cylinder engine, that's what turbo's are for :)

doesn't it involve some kind of modification to the firewall?

Hey I would definitely think about it hard cause its expensive. But if u want power more on demand i would go supercharger cause its always ready to go. Turbo has to spool up for a sec or two, but they sound cooler cause of the wastegate. Also turbos are extremely hot I would go supercharger my friend has a 98 lude and he is loving it. It got him around 50-60 rear wheel hp. good luck and if u have any sound clips of an apex n1 sytem send me them thanks

The hissing sound from a turbocharger system comes from the bypass valve. Turbochargers are also more efficient than superchargers, and more flexible. And superchargers are good on any car regardless of cylinder count.

Superchargers are less efficient due to the fact that they take power from the pulleys which will decrease the bhp to whp ratio. True, turbos do have a spool up time but they are capable of running much higher boost than a supercharger.

That's 100% correct. The term coined for the supercharger's ineffiency is leaching. It takes power to make the power. Turbochargers are using the flow of wastes so 1) the turbocharger is not hindered in terms of how much boost they can produce, it is dependent on how much exhaust your engine is expelling 2) boost is flexible and can be controlled easily using a wastegate boost controller, and 3) turbos are also typically quieter. If you want a short spool, go with a tiny turbo. If you want an incredible amount of power, go with a big turbo. If you want no spool and a moderate amount of untunable (for the most part) power, take the SC. It's all a tradeoff of one thing for another.
