I came home after a BBQ and was unloading my car (88 Prelude Si Manual Trans). With my hands full I accidentaly activated the remote start on my keypad while in gear and my car took off about 5 feet. It ran over a guide post and a small tree that was tied to it. It cracked the lower part of my body kit and smashed my neon. It is easily repairable and could have been worse. I could have run into my Apt building. It really sucked when it happened though. I just shook my head and got my ride unhooked. So if any of you have plans of a remote start on a manual trans car be very carefull.

Just about any remote start can be made this way on most cars. The cheap easy way is to incorporate the e-brake and to install a rocker switch that is used on alarms to detect the car being rocked(jacking your rims). That way if it is in gear, the violent shaking will trigger the RS to stop working.

If they did my friend they would be breaking the law as I am doing. Remote starts are not to be installed on manual trans vehicles. I install these units for a living. Dummy me should have made safety precautions.

Not too fast there. I know it isn't technically against the law in Ohio but it may be soon. Plus, you'll be hard to find many shops to actually do the install. I will do it on a cash only basis with no receipt at my shop.

I cant do it at my shop but will do it personaly for friends only. It can be dangerous and I dont want to be responsible. I put a disarm switch in. I really have no use for the remote start anymore becuase its parked through the winter. All I really need is the bionic alarm on this unit.

I finished fixing it today my friends. Looks like it never happened. And I switched the starter wire to prevent danger.
