I've decided to go with a 5th gen prelude over the integra LS and i need to get the car by the end of august. What do you guys think a fair price to pay for a prelude in near mint condition with about 70-80k miles. I want to get one stock and trick it out to my taste. Also i have access to dealer wholesale auctions so take that into consideration. I think that the best model for me is the base 5 speed. Any thoughts?

Fifth gens are overpriced in my opinion. I usually see them for around 10k. Who knows, you might find a good deal. And a +98 5 speed base is better than any Type SH.

Go with a '99 Type SH...dude y go BASE??...u'll pay around 11K...for a good one with Low MILES!! around 50-70k miles...but u can buy one from private sellers for as LOW AS $7000 '97 UP BASE Model...that's of course if u have the CASH UP FRONT

correct me if i am wrong, but doesn't the sh have a much less modifiable suspension. i also thought they have some sort of traction control (ewwww)

SH is less modifyable anything. If you want to compete in the stock class, get an SH, if you want to do anything else, get a base.

I dont want an SH because the ATTS system on the car overloads after moderate engine mods. It makes the car heavier and the system will have to be disabled anyway. The only nice thing about the SH is the rims. Ive seen 97 and 98 base 5 speed models go for around 6.5k with about 80k miles at dealer auctions but they dont come up too often. Im in New York so Luds are kinda rare around here but few dealers who are gonna bid against me are going to want a manual transmission car because they dont sell. I hope that helps me in some way. Just for example I saw a 2000 altima 5 speed base with 30k miles go for 4800 and it was in perfect condition--a steal.
As for tuning a prelude as time goes on im gonna reinforce the bottom end on the car and put in a turbo kit worth about 350hp. I dont think its too smart to do a one time cash throwdown.
Does anyone have experience buying a car with mods already on it. I know you can save a lot of money.
