Armor all on black trim?

I was curious how to make the black trim (The black strip that runs along the middle of the door, quarter panel and front end) and i spoke to this guy who said to use armor all to make it black again (its fading).

Does it really work?

I stopped at autozone before i went to school to see if they sold something to do this and the guy told me to spray paint it which seems like a bad idea because of chipping and i dont want it to be glossy i just want it to look like it did when it was first put on.

yes and do it alot to make it stick and dark. First time you wont see much change. Keep at it and it'll look good as new!

try something called Back to Black. it works but you have to reapply pretty much everytime you wash the car. something else i have seen is some type of paint made for trim and bumpers. its is the flat grayish black color the piece should be..

One day I was washing the car and I noticed how faded the trim was becoming. I took the tire stuff I had there, (I think it was black magic tire wet or something like that) any, I put it on the trim, and it all looked brand new. But you'd have to wipe it down after with a dry cloth because it's kinda greasey. I hope that this helps.

Make sure you read the label on the tire stuff, some will fade plastic.

I agree, or just peanut oil. Definitly works good.

also, to fix faded gray bumpers, you can use a heat gun.

Just for those of us who don't or didn't used to know... most car waxes actually cause that trim to fade away quicker... so always want to avoid waxing them when you wax your car.

hmm... if peanut butter/oil works so good, I wonder how olive oil would work.

I am a detailer, and I highly recommend Back to Black for any faded black trim. Unless you have a lot of spare time, then I'd go ahead and use some trim paint.

I also detail & agree w/ Back to Black or Forever Black. Stay away from Armor All products.

As stated above waxes, polishes, glazes, sealers all fade trim & can be a pain to remove. Cover all ext. with dressing before applying the listed chemicals. Don't worry about getting dressing on the paint, polishing/waxing will remove it during the process.

Spray some cheap dressing in your wheel wells after cleaning the car. Nothing worse than a car all polished up w/ some nasty looking wheel wells.

Jackasssi is dead on.. run away from Armor All. Forever Black is amazing and works wonders. My trim was horribly faded (some pieces worse than others) and Forever Black made it all look new again. You don't have to reapply it each time you wash your car either. Well, at least I don't. It was kinda hard to find, tho..

Like i said in that one, use Back to Black by Mothers. This stuff works great and brought most of my color back, i just need to use it a couple more times and itll be shinier than ever.
