2000 Suburban 3rd Brake light (liftgate)

I called a local dealer. The want $127 for the 3rd brake light which is obviously out on my 2000 Suburban.

Can i change the blub/blubs some how?

Is there a cheaper place to get this piece?

Does anybody have one for sale?

On my '99 Sub the 3rd brakelight is an LED unit and must be replaced as an assembly. Also checkout gmpartsdirect.com for part #'s and costs. Be sure to go through a couple of check-out steps to see the S&H charges as they can sometimes total more than dealer costs!!

It's a led unit like stated above. Before you replace it make sure that it is getting power, there maybe a short or a blown fuse. Those leds usually last for a long time. If it is out then try junkyards if you arent worried about buying new. There are alot of latemodel truck junkyards online if you dont have one near you. It will probably save you some cash but it may not last more than a few months, theres basically no way to tell with going used.
