Has anyone had there ride painted at a Maaco? I need to get mine sprayed before spring but the local shops in Iowa do lousy jobs for to much cash. I found a Maaco in Peoria ILL that sprays for a reasonable price. Im not sure if I should let these Iowa shops rip me off or take my chances with Maaco. Happy Holidays all

a decent paint job should run you about 2500, if that helps at all

For the money Maaco's jobs look ok. It will look much better if you do the prep(sanding/masking/etc.) I've seen $4,000 paint jobs that look like shit, IMO. It's not the price, it's the person doing it, yea better usually cost more.

Do all the body work, make it almost perfect. Spray in primer & save til you can afford a good job.

I have already done all of my body work. Im ready for someone to spray it now. The going rate here in Iowa is 2400.00 for a lousy paint job. I had a blazer painted at a shop that is more recomended than the others localy. It turned out to be a slappy happy paint job. The dealers do good work here but are $$$$$$$$. Is there anyone from chicago that can recomend a shop there? Happy Holidays

Why not find a votech or trade school and take an autobody class ? Maybe use your own car as your project :naughty:
Once you know how theres never a need to trust or pay others. Plus whos going to care for your car more you or some one looking for money.

That is a good point and correct. I do all of my own work (and a few buddies). I just dont have the time to go to school. I work so damb much I have no choice but to pay for the spray. Thanks for the advice though. Happy Holidays
