Engine Niose. Help required

Hi

Hoping for some advice on a little problem with a 944.

Basically there is a vibration (fast tapping niose) coming from the engine above 2500 rpm whether the car is moving or parked.

The tempo of the noise is constant and doesn't vary with speed, but has no set pattern other than it not happening at all below 2500 rpm. Also, if when the noise appears you accelerate more it stops.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated, even any diagnosis tips to help trace the problem.

Could be a lifter noise or noisey injector. Has it always done it or just something recent? If recent try and oil change with a Porsche filter. Don't ask why just try it

Thanks for that, I will give it a try. The noise wasn't there when the car was purchased some months ago and has gradually become more intense.

Thanks

then again, it could just be the injectors firing. 944's are known to have noisy injectors...nothing to worry about if this is the case. I suggest an oil change too.

Hi

Will be getting the oil change done today. Fingers crossed it does the trick.

Hi Again

Changed the oil and flushed etc. No difference.

Had the top removed and 2 of the lifters we needing replaced. Everything else seemed OK.

Replaced all 8 with new ones and put it back together and the noise was still present but seems to be a bit better. Could it be that after replacing the lifters they need a run in and the noise will go away or is that too much to hope for....

I just noticed the post above mentioning injectors. Would they make that kind of sound?

Thanks

the injectors in 944's are agressive enough to sound like a bad rocker or two.
