My best advice is to pry open your wallet and buy a cd player. Then go and buy a halfway decent alarm. Do you have a Best Buy in your area? You can buy a base model cd player and car alarm and have a it installed for free. :2cents:

Sorry, that's not a viable option- as stated in my previous post aftermarket units are not an option- even taking the faceplate doesn't guarantee they won't break into my car just to check to see if I happened to leave it behind (which they regularly do anyway!).. and that's not worth a broken window!

So, basically stock OEM head unit is the way to go for me.. If I wanna listen to CD's while I drive, I'll use my other car.. but for now my Prelude is my daily driver and sits all day parked on a Brooklyn sidestreet.. I'm not lookin to drop any cash in it other than routine maintenance since it's only being used from "A-to-B".. Anways, I already got a fully-functioning stock/OEM unit off eBay for $10..
So does anyone know how to get this dang thing outta the dash?

unscrew your shifter knob if you have a m/t. then take your screw driver and take out the screws on each side of the console that surounds the stereo. they are located by the floor board facing the doors. push the console forward and lift up to unatatch it from the console that surounds the E brake and remove. You should be able to see the brakets that hold your tape deck in. on each side of the old unit should be 8mm bolts that hold it in. remove and slide the old unit out. you may have to reach around from behind and unplug the unit first if there isnt enough slack. plug the new unit in and reverse the process
