what about an accord 3.0?

Doesn't the accord come with an h22 or one of those 3.0's? so why wouldn't the 3.0 fit in the prelude as well? i may try it if someone has the info or knowhow (98 prelude SH)

i have looked into doing that myself actually and from what i found out was you need the motor, wireing harness, computer and fuel tank/w pump from a v-tech because the tank from the accord is to big for the prelude. let me know if u do this i would like to know how it works out.

you're going to need more than that snlewis if this is at all practical. new tranny, axles, ecu, probably some custom work to the engine bay itself coz you have to remember it was designed for a 4 banger, not a V6. oh and, lots of $$$$$$$$$.

honestly, don't know why anyone would swap out the H22 for any other honda motor, cept perhaps the K20 from an rsx-s, not the 3.0 from the accord. the 3.0 is just not a performance-oriented engine. there is no manual gearbox designed for this motor so you're stuck with an auto unless you intend to do a major custom job with a tranny. also the 3.0 has a considerably smaller aftermarket for it than the H22.

not saying it can't be done, with the right amount of cash flow, anything can be done. but if you want my honest opinion, stick with the H22. just my $.02

look in to it because in 1996 you could have special ordered it with the 3.0 v-tech and it fits fine and if you do the only mod there is that i know of is the exhaustand axels if i am not mustaking also what i have been told the german manual trans will mount up so they say and besides i have a friend in the states who has it because he worked for honda

a 3 liter what? 6 cylinder? or do you mean a 3 liter 4 banger? because the h22 is only 2.2 liters...

theoretically you can put any engine into any car, given the time and money. ive seen 5.0's in miatas

but why you would want to do this is beyond me. keep in mind, its the h22a thats running all motor 10's, not the accord 6.

its the h22a that honda chose to put into its hightest performance car (at the time anyway) not the 6.

like del said, your looking at alot of work and ALOT of money for not much gain. why not take that cash and work up the h22, you'll be much happier.

if you can prove to me that some sort of german trans, mounts to a honda motor, without modification.... i will send you a 100 dollars in cash. i KNOW there is no such thing.

the point of the story is not that i am going to do it. if u go back to the original question which was if it could be done or not which it can be with no problem. and maybe i was not to clear about the trans. is from a honda prelude german spec., which the gear ratio to the american one is a little diffrent not buy much if i am not mustaking. and besides u r right about the motor, why would u want anything else but the h22 other than the J Spec. one .
