1996 Lumina
Woke up this morning to a cooler day (minor cool front overnight). The speedometer & odometer didn't work and the transmission wouldn't shift out of 1st.
I let the car warm up for 30 minutes. Everything worked fine.

Any fixes for this (other than warming up the car)?

Update Part II My wife went out this afternoon even after the car was warmed up and then wouldn't drive at all. She had to drive it in reverse all the way back home.

The Speed Sensor located on the transaxle has failed. It is a small magnetic electrical device that sends a signal to the drive train module relative to the speed of the car. Its bolted to the top RH side (pass side) of car . Access it from top or bottom- remove connector then 2 screws and replace with new switch- about 65.00. There is no fix to the sensor except R&R. Very easy job to do.
