well i believe he was talking about the exhaust resonator 97grenlude. You are talking about the intake resonator. I know the butt dyno says the intake resonator says horses were lost. and as for the exhaust resonator. all that does is quite your exhuast. it may give you insignificant gains as well.

DONT TAKE OFF YOUR RESONATOR, i took mine off an it didnt help at all. the "Muffler Man" suggested i take it off and now at high rpms my car clicks like a god damn weedwacker. it never did that untill i took off the resonator and it doesnt improve horse power at all. All it really does is let more air to the muffler, and as long as ur muffler is still the same size it wont matter. its still gotta come out the back. so i highly reccomend that you keep it on to save the sound of your exhaust.

It's my belief that cats, resonators, and mufflers all work together as a system. Take out one of the elements and things change, but not necessarily for the better. If you just remove your resonator, the noise and power will likely increase but maybe the character of the sound will be unsatisfactory.

I know from experience that resonators differ quite a bit. Maybe you should consider a test pipe for the absent resonator first and be able to reinstall it if the sound sucks.

I went through two resonators and two mufflers before the sound was acceptable to me. Power difference between them didn't seem to be any different, though.

Good luck.

I'm going to stick with swearing against muffler shop jobs. Custom exhaust systems look and sound like shit. The performance is up there, but what good is it for driveability if you can't even hear your stereo. There's a reason reputable companies are reputable, and that's because they sell quality products. Buy a catback exhaust from a name brand company and you will NOT be disappointed. I wish i could get my 400 dollars back for that shit i went through on my 'custom' job.

Dont take it off just like Stratpunkr the muffler guy told me "oh it would soud soooo much better if you took the resanator out" then he welded in 2.5 in pipe from the cat back and it sounds like a fuckin cow. I hated it, the job a mufller cost me over $300 for my car to sound like shit. I replaced it all with a Greedy catback. Dont Make That mistake
