which one did you buy? well anyway i believe the prelude S (w/SOHC) is a 135 hp @ 5000 rpm, SI (DOHC) is 160 hp @5000 rpm, Vtec (vtec) is 190 hp at 6200 rpm

its pointless to do mods to that motor. You wont see any HP gains out of it. If i were you and i had the money, i would drop in a H22. Best bang for your buck and a direct swap. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

yea i just got a 96 S and im gonna hold off on the real mods until i get a swap because integra is right...the base hp is real low and in the long run i feel your better of first saving up for a swap and working form there.... a swap will give you 55 more hp...which is real good considering its only 2g's forthe h22

My first prelude was an F22a and i had just AEM CAI, exhaust, 17's lowered, and I beat factory Si's all the time.... so actually .... i find bolt ons almost seemed to help that car more than my H22, it was prolly only like a second slower than my SRV.

I would save for a swap, H22a. it should run you 3k or so. then do your normal bolt ons (i/h/e). If you dont have the money for a swap and you just want to blow your money away then go ahead do put i/h/e on the S motor. IMHO, its just not worth moding it. You can buy a used intake for like $50 for now if you want to make it sound mean :D
hummm im not believing the S w/ cai and exhaust was beating Si's maybe if you were a good driver and they had an AT or didnt know how to drive. The S' are pretty slow.

isnt it the f22b2, I could have sworn the accord DX/LX came with the 130 hp f22b2 and it is SOHC non vtec and the EX came with the 145 HP F22a1 that is SOHC VTEC.
and the base lude came with the base accord engine, and last time i looked under the hood of a base model it was a f22b2.
and go for the H22, its only 2200 complete swap, and wont it not even ned the axles or shift linkage, i know its already cable, but not sure of axles anyways if you domnt need that stuff its only 1950. add 300 for the LSD while your at it

for about 2500 you could do the swap, or you could get I/H/E and a wet it and be able to beat SI's, but the vtec would still have you and theres not much room to go except for expensive stuff. if your tight on money, get just an intake and then a nice N20 setup and spray til you can afford the swap and then put the juice to the H22 and be extra quick.

ok i disagree with you guys talking about a swap from the f22a to the h22.. the f22 is the ideal motor for a turbo because of its low compression at 8:8:1. where the h22 is like 10:8:1.. so if i were you i would put a small turbo running 8-12 pounds of boost and that sucker will fly also the f22 has a bullet proof bottom end so you dont have to modify the engine any..
