alrite my car will be going to dmv to be checked in order to clear the salvaged title in about 10 days, and if it fails i gotta wait another half month+ for next date, so my question is if anyone has done this before if you coudl give me some pointers as to what things i definately shoudl watch out for i would greatly appreciate it, like what to double check or triple check and make sure works so they cant fail my car. Thanks. And my car runs fine, just replaced the alternator, but the check engine light is still on and i have no idea why, i cant figure out what is wrong, any suggestions? thanks

If the check engine light is on - pull the codes & you will know the problem.

warm up the car to normal opertaing temp. *fan comes on then off*
Shut engine off
pull hazard fuse from under-hood fuse box for 15 seconds
re-install fuse
start engine

Is the light still on?
If yes then you will need some sort of diagnostic tool to read your fault codes.
If no then dont worry about it until it comes on again.

I wasn't aware you could clear a salvaged title? Does it become a rebuilt title or what?

How does that affect insurance rates?

well i believe in New Jersey you cant drive with a salvaged title so my dad had to arrange a date with the DMV (only a few can do a salvaged inspection) and they will check your car to make sure its in working order and after they do so....they issue you a rebuilt title, and then you can go and apply for your plates and finish registering your car, and then you go with temp plates and they mail you your real ones.....i dont think you can get a salvaged car insured....but maybe its different where you live.
