Reset miles-to-empty for Montero Limited?

My miles-to-empty display didn't reset by itself on a fill-up a while back, and I'd like to reset it -- I had the dealer do this for me at one point a while back, but I don't feel like making a trip back. Does anybody know how to do this?

Thanks --

I had the same problem. The dealer said they couldn't tell me how it was done, but he did say it was pretty easy... Involved holding a button and turning the key a certain way. Well that was enought for me.

Try this:
Put key in ignition. Hold the ADJ button down. While holding the button, turn key to Accesory position...Continue holding the ADJ button until a diagnostic screen appears.
From there, you can probably figure it out.

Good luck.

Hey -- thanks for the reply! OK -- I've gotten to the diagnostic screen but I don't see anything that resets the fuel reading -- the only thing I've seen that mentions fuel is the diagnostic procedure which just reports 'Fuel OK'. The only thing I can see to alter is the compass callibration???

Can you tell me what you did to fix your problem????

Thanks!!!!

Hi. I have your answer. My Montero did the same thing. 1st...With key in off position, push and hold the "DISP" button. 2...While continuing to hold down button, turn the ignition to ACC position. Keep holding the "DISP" button until you hear a beep tone which will last for about 10 secs. You should see the display "Start to check the system. Please turn the ignition key to the on position. 3...Turn ignition switch to "ON" position to start the system-connection-check. 4...Wait for approx 8 secs. The system will give a beep signal. When the connection is completed, the "completed the system connection" message will be displayed. After this, you will need to reset the compass. It will give onscreen instuctions. Hope you get it!
