noise and feeling. Rev up the engine, use A/C and drive hard. swerve around to test the suspension. slam on the brakes to test brakes. then, if they let you, take it on the freeway, cuz you don't notice some things until you go fast.

You can check to see if the front has been damaged by looking for painted over screws, or the seals. Feel along the edges of the door, hood, trunk, if it feels bumpy and not smooth, it's been damaged, and repaired.

Check all the motors in the car, A/C fan, power windows, sunroof, radio antenna, power windows, odometer guage, radio. if you complain about these things, they might go ahead and fix it for you(free stuff huh?)

test speakers, by fading and balancing, Do a lemon check online, or somewhere else, www.carfax.com is good, it'll help you save more money by not getting ripped off.

Look at the tires, the wear, dents in rims.

check the fluids, make sure the previous owner wasn't driving on low motor oil, or clutch fluid.

basically test everything that can be tested. usually big problems are noticeable. just make sure your engine isn't making funny noises.
