Hey I just got a new to me 1992 prelude si and I was wondering if it would be possible to put the h22a vtec engine in it , or what the stock engine was?

dont see why it wont.... you would need the ECU, tranny, and harness with it... i dont think its a direct bolt on swap but i could be wrong - if it isn't just go to like placeracing.com or something and get custom mounts....

Yours (ours, I have one too) come with a H23A1. The H22A is a direct bolt in. You do not need to change the tranny at all. I actually blew my tranny and I now have a vtec tranny vs the si tranny. The rule is H series fit with H series. B series fit with B series and so on (that goes for tranny, head, engine, or block).

H also fits with F series.

Hi guys, I'm pretty car illiterate - but judging from this post, I'm assuming that I could put a JDM H22A DOHC VTEC 2.2L 16 Valve 210 hp engine in my regular '93 Prelude Si??? Here is an example of what I'm talking about (being sold on ebay right now):

Will that sucker fit in my '93 Si??? Also, are turbos easy to find for an engine like this? Thanks for any info guys!

yes it will drop right in with few wiring changes. And yes H goes with H always.
www.jspecautosports.com u can get a new motor,5-speed tranny, ecu and most everything else you need for $2050.00

dude, that one u found on ebay does not look like its in good condition, and i wouldn't trust a seller who can't even spell most of the components he's selling

it looks like it's from canada. if so, maybe it's all rusted.

Okay, if H also fits F, then technically, I should be able to put this s2000 engine in my prelude without too much trouble??? Would it be impossible to do since it's a 6-speed, and my car is a 5-speed???

Also, what is the difference between the vtec engines which would seem exactly the same, but are listed with 10 hp difference. For example, that link I provided in a previous post to the ebay engine says it's a 210hp engine - but the exact same engine for sale at jspec auto says their's is 200hp? Why the difference???

Also available from jspec auto was a F20B engine for Accord Type R... I heard that this engine is actually better than the H22A for the prelude? I should be able to put that in my car too...? Is it a truly better engine, or is that just an opinion of someone? It looks like the H22A that they're selling has more torque... and only a little less hp, if not the same as the F20B. Statistic wise it looks like the H22A would be the better one. And that F20B engine is like 800 bucks MORE than the H22A. What gives an engine more balls anyway, the hp or the torque? Like, say I pull up next to some douche bag that wants to race - what would I want more of??? Thanks for the info guys

plus... JDM H22's never came with 210 hp - just 200 and like 220 something (type S)

Ah, found this thread through yahoo. Didn't know it was so old.
These 220hp engines "The Type S and SiR (Type R) h22a engines," I wonder if they have greater torque than the one with 200hp. I found out the s2000 engine is basically uncompatible with my lude. My only real question still would be whether or not that Accord Type R engine would be better than a H22A. I heard the Accord engine only has 209hp...

the s2000 is rwd, therefore uncompatible without ALOT of fabrication. the jdm type-s engine is the one with 220hp and this was done through a higher compression ratio. this probably makes it harder to bolt-on a turbocharger that a regular h22a can take without reinforcing. i have never heard of an accord-r engine in a lude, and theres probably a very good reason for that.

Okay - thanks a bunch for the info man. It looks like I should probably just get a regular 200hp vtec. Would it be better to just get a used vtec, or have someone like this guy build one on ebay using some of my current engine parts?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&?ViewItem&item=7920051067
It's over a thousand more to have it built from this guy, than if I were to just buy a used vtec. Are there even any real perks to having it built???

The Euro Accord Type R (SiR) uses the h22a. It has a blue top and pumps out about somewhere in the 210hp range. Some claim 212hp, some say as low as 197. *Shrug*

i thought that was like a DOHC F22..... or something..... not the H22...

ahh - I'm thinking of the F20B... JDM accord motor... blue top.

F20B in the older JDM Accord SiR's, and yeah has a blue top. H23A VTEC in the Accord SiR wagons, and also has a blue top. Both have about 200hp.

Whew. This JDM shit gives me a headache.
