So tonight my daughter has lost the ONLY key to her truck. When she bought it, I told her, GET MORE KEYS MADE. Did she listen? :grinno::grinno::grinno: :banghead:
So, is there any way to remove the lock cylinder in the steering column without the key that isn't going to damage the column? All the YouTube videos made it seem like the key is needed. I really don't want to have a locksmith write a big fat bill.

Might be cheaper with a Locksmith. Call around.

I wonder if one could be made from the VIN?

For the record, this is the route we finally took. According to the local locksmith, '96 is as far back as they can go to create a key from the VIN. It cost about $60, but it was cheaper than having them come out and mess with it and cost a lot less than a new lock cylinder installed (and new door locks).
