Hello

2012 Focus SEL with 180,000 miles. It went dead while driving (60 mph), only display “transmission not in park.” Pulled over and placed in park, unable to start. Tried to start several times unsuccessfully, either respond with no power or click indications. Check under hood, battery and connections look great. With key in on position and foot brake pedal, unable move out of park (P) position to neutral (N). Use Shift Interlock to move to N.

Towed it home. Tow truck operator unsuccessful tried to boost and start (dead). A few minutes later, I was able to start it like normal. Successfully check battery and alternator are good. Verified chassis ground connection from battery okay.

Next day it started up fine. Performed the relearning procedure for transmission with no problem. Upon returning home, turn off car. Radio stayed on after exiting car. The park lights were flickering also. I lock the car with remote (horn chirped). Both radio playing and lights flickering continued until the security light duration completed.

Unlock successfully but unable to start initially in P. Had to use shift interlock to place in N to start successful. Turned off and tried to start in P unsuccessful. Now unable to start even in N, get “Transmission not in park.” Trying to start in P, results in clicking.

Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Also any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance
