I think I may have heard of this, but just in case, I'm getting a feeling that I'm mistaken. :bs:

Honda never made a Prelude Type R. There were other labels, such as Type S and Type SH, but never "R."

That badge is a fabrication.

:iagree: ... There was a sweeeeettt turbo prelude at Carlisle with $14,000 in mods and it had a Prelude Type R emblem on the back. I wanted to smack him. I said, "You know Honda never made a Prelude Type R, right?" Then he gave me a speech saying, "Type R, to me, is anything that's custom and Honda... blah blah blah" :loser: Totally fucked up a nice car.

People used to do that with "SS" Chevys back in the 60's. Badge engineering. " It must be true cause I read it on his fender!" I saw a 5th Gen with "Type SH" sticker in back and Type SH rims in the parking lot the other day. It also had a 3rd brake light and black rockers (white car).

"Type R" is, in fact (i.e. not opinion), a brand Honda uses to market its cars. Honda uses their particular parts to make a complete package. If you take a Civic DX and load it up with all the Civic Type R parts, you get...

A custom Civic. No more, no less. The VIN will always show it's a DX, but hopefully, if the car's built up correctly, it has become more than its trim level. What's wrong with just calling it a "custom car?" Why pretend to be some specific product that it's not?

"Type R" is, in fact, a trim level. It is *odd* to borrow a trim level name from one model and use it on another, just because it has a cool reputation or the badge is neat. You could put an NSX Type T "Type T" logo on a del Sol... (the "T" stands for "Targa", which is accurate)... but that doesn't mean that the del Sol is now a "del Sol Type T."

On the other hand, it's just a dumb badge, and it pops right off with one swipe of a screwdriver... Why sweat it? :p

I also saw a purple dodge shadow the other day with the shadow emblem blacked out with black spray paint (they didnt bother to tape off around the emblem so there was a big black spot around the emblem) with an accord badge under the shadow badge. :eek7:

i dunno why so many ppl wanna have a "Type R"

i drove my buddy's ITR, an yea, it was sweet an got some attention, but its not something i'd try to immulate. yes, great motors, even better suspension, but its not jus a normal car I'D want to be driving around daily.

don't get me wrong, i love the Type R cars, but i jus think that they're really gettin over-hyped an i don't see why ppl w/ such a nice lude (the turbo one mentioned) would want to make it look like a ricer...

sigh...don't mind me, jus blowing off some steam...its jus like the question "why the hell do u want a wing that is taller then most of the asian population...":eek7:

The other day I saw a Mercedes M Class SUV with an SiR Tag on it. No offense to me or any honda addict, but if I can afford a $50K SUV, that is the last thing in the world I would put on it. I would be 6 feet under for years before it would happen. Everyone wants to be the star of their own private FAST and the FURIOUS

I hate it:comprage1

Lol...I saw a lot of these wanna-be's. One time on eBay, I saw a 2002 Lancer OZ up for bid, and it had a GT-R badge on it. The seller says it's a "Lancer OZ GT-R." Anyone seen that car on eBay? Also, we have this one guy over here (in my town) with a Civic CX that has a Type S badge and the DOHC V-TEC badge found on GSR's. He has an LS engine...I, personally, get so ticked off when people do that. :comprage1 To me, it ruins the whole car.

One more thing, there IS a Prelude Si-R...and I think there is also an Si-R II.

I think the only difference between them is that the Si-R has got a LSD instead of the ATTS of the Type-S. And there never was a Prelude Si-R II as far as I know.

For whoever said there was a prelude type R motor, technically they were right the Prelude shares it'sd H22 with the accord type R amd eavalible in England, so you could build a H22 type R...

... But why?

Actually.. that was the H23 VTEC motor, and it's called the Accord Euro R.

It has a blue top, and there's one on ebay for 3000.

But why you ask? Simply to have the best.

yeah because there is not a 2.3L VTEC .... only the 2.2L ... H22A not H23A.

You are right, the Accord Type-R did come with an 2.2 liter engine, but the compression ratio was different. 11.0:1 insead of 10.8:1, the internals were lightened and balanced, and the valves flowed better.

What's the VTEC H23 come out of then? The accord wagon?
And then what about the F20B? Just different generations?

For Kornboy:

The Accord Type-R also has got a different ECU (higher rev-limit) and a different exhaust system.

My questions is.......who cares? Let the car speak for itself. If you have a piece of shit that can't turn the quarter under 60 seconds, so, the car says it all. Piece of shit. It doesn't matter how many japanese characters or checkerboard squares or name brand labels or giant wings or stupid ass tinny bumble bee sounding exhaust pipes you stick on it.....it's still running shit times and it's still a piece of shit. Spend some of that cash on electronics and engine components instead of super huge wheels and tires and stickers and you might even up your hp by ten if you're lucky, with little to no effort.

Why do people need stickers and emblems and goofy shit all over their ride?

My 95 has NOTHING on the outside that it didn't have when it came from Japan. (except a few dings here and there) and she runs the quarter in low 14's and high 13's. Not the fastest times out there, but damn competitive.

And I don't have anything on the outside to say a peep about what's on the inside. I even peeled off my Vtec badge. Needless to say there's something about handing people their ass on a platter when they think they have a base model running stock components that they can blow away, and then I chew them up and spit them out. If I had a hundred bucks for every one of those looks of "OH SHIT" on the faces of all the little boys I've shown up, I'd be a rich man today.

Element of surprise and that look on their face when I pass them at 140+, is worth every stupid R, RS, GS, SH, Si, and type sticker/emblem out there.

Gotta love it. :thefinger

stupid girls are impressed by type R badges..

also, there's a thing called individual tastes. it might not be something that EVERYONE shares. take, for instance, show and go.. some people like the show aspect, and don't really care about going fast. some people like the go aspect and don't care what their car looks like. then there's everyone in between. where do you fall?

i've said it before, and i'll say it again: to each his own my friend.
