the dip stick seal is not a big deal just go to a scrap yard and get another stick for a 350 tranny.

or are we talking about the stick tube seal where it is into the transmission ????

whats with the 4 qts of fluid ? what are you saying ?.

yeah the transmission suppose to have 3.5 quarts of fluid i had a small leak in the cooling line which i fixed but i put one quart in it and i went and got more and put three more quarts in it so maybe thats what it was i drove it for 30 minutes and it stayed on full but there is suppose to be a o ring or a seal that goes on the dipstick i seen one on ebay but i dont know if there all the same or not i have the long tale shaft th350

with a pan drop on this th350 the fluid amount will be around 3.5qts. so you add 3qts start engine go thru gears then slowly add fluid to where it is in the below hash mark area/cold fluid . then go for a drive for just a few miles and on the same exact level spot as before recheck fluid. add so it is in the low end of the full hot area.

when the fluid is fully heated driving for 20 plus miles it still should not be at anytime over the full hot hash mark onthe stick. there shall be no air bubbles in the fluid as this means it is too full.

ok i have another question how many quarts low before it quits pulling when ever the car sets the pan is full of fluid the dipstick will read full and then when i go to start it and move it i get back out and check it, it might have a little bit of fluid touching the stick but theres no leaks when its like this if i go to add the fluid it starts leaking :banghead:

with the vehicle on perfectly level ground the engine at idle and cold the transmission fluid is to be below the full mark hashed area. the fluid should be visable on the stick.

then go for a drive a few miles to get the fluid engine at a normal operating temp. like 190 deg f. then in the same exact level spot you measure that the fluid is in the full hash mark area.

usually when your down about 2 qts it will slip. if your over 1/2 qt it will create air bubbles and slip also. avoid both too much/little at all times.

too much it will also blow out !

all of this wrong fluid level will surely kill the tranny . good luck.

where this dip stick tube connects to the transmission, the seal would need replacing if it is cracked..its been a long time for me on the TH350 what the seal looks like. but whatever, just get the correct seal so that it will not leak when the transmission is filled to the proper level from this area of the tube inserted into the tranny .

post back whats up.

I think this is it !
