When it's difficult to start, what are the conditions? Was it the first attempt to start it during the day, was it when it was shut off recently, or was it running just a couple of minutes before attempting to start it?

Symptoms of a cold hard start is a bad, or dirty MAF/IACT sensors.

My '06 SV6 had similar starting conditions. The first start of the day always worked but still didn't sound strong. After many hours of sitting it would also start the same way. But if I tried to start it within a few hours of it being started already, it would crank, start, and then stall immediately. I would have to hold down the accelerator while cranking to get it to start.
Long story short, I cleaned the MAF and the electronic throttle body with the CRC brand cleaners specific to MAF's and TB's and the van starts strongly every time now. Make sure you use actual MAF cleaner. DO NOT clean it with anything else or touch it with anything.
