1971 Datsun 240z Completed!
It's been a long time coming! I finally finished this replica of Paul Hooks' beautiful 1971 Datsun 240z, affectionately named "ZBLUES". Paul is a dear friend of mine, and I built this model for him because his Z is truly special.
About the car: Fully restored chassis/interior/exterior, 3.1L stroker engine with triple Mikuni carb. induction, Recaro seats, MOMO steering wheel, roll bar, F/R strut tower bars, Porsche(993) calipers and more. Paul is an accomplished road racer, and the Z is his race/show car. Here is a short video clip of Paul coming up the front straight at Thunderhill Raceway chasing a Vortech'd Mustang, gotta love those triple Mikuni's!! http://rabbit.circa.ufl.edu/albums/alvin/MOV00418.mpg The model: I used a combination of Fujimi and Revell parts to detail ZBlues. The progress thread is here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ht=1971+datsun Overall I'm pretty happy with the model and I'm proud of it. There were things like the ITG foam air filter and throttle linkage that I thought were impossible for me to create. This was my first time flocking an interior as well. I like the engine bay and the chassis. I'm not happy with the chrome trim, or BMF'd bumpers, paint and light assemblys. Thanks to all that helped me along the way with parts/decals help and motivation! I can't wait to deliver this model to Paul! |

That is some great work. I love the camera mount and the other little attentions to detail.

It was one heck of a wip and its great to see this here. You truly did some innovative work in the engine bay and the result is great. You must have put 100's of hours into this and I bet Paul will be trilled. I like how you have the real pics included so we can campare.

Hey, that's just amazing! I love how close you got it to the real thing. It blows my mind. All the details are there - especially impressive is the camera mount. That's just... wow. I always love watching your builds, your replicas of real cars, they always turn out spot on. Just amazing work, man. I love it.
