2005 Escape with noticeable ticking @idle

Looking at purchasing 2005 Escape with 2.3 I4 engine, has approx. 80,000 miles. there is a noticeable ticking noise at idle and dealer says this is common. Can anyone confirm this please?

Well, to start with....why are you buying a Ford? Your name suggests you might never be happy with it.

Next I'd be very cautious about buying a vehicle that was driven 20,000 miles a year that has a ticking sound. (it shouldn't by the way) Is there any evidence of oil changes? If someone kept that on schedule it should have had over 20 oil changes done. Any receipts? Most folks DON'T change their oil frequently and some never do at all.
