Wow, so much has happened(update: lots-o-pics)
It looks like last time i was on here i just got new rims on my red car.
well bad news i dont have the FWD red car anymore. back in Feburary, on the all-seasons stock 16s, i hits some black ice on the freeway at 2am on a saturday night or sunday morning. Lost control of the car, and hit the center divider and spun out. the car before the accident at the WiDSM meet. with the 99 front end. After i spun out. luckly the car was still driveable. an alignment, new tail light, and threw on the old front bumber. I drove the car for about 2 months but to fix it would have been as much as a shell. So i set out for AWD. i finally found it in april. it was a 1998 Eagle Talon TSi AWD 5spd It was about 4 hours deep into MN when driving from Millwaukee. about and 7-8hour journey each way. i told the guy that i would take it were i got a steal on the car. i got the car, the trans and drivetrain, koni yellow and ebach pro-kits, a full 3in thermal exhaust, and a 02 elimnunator down pipe. after starting out saturday moring at 8am then helping the guy pull the motor on the shell, we finally got it back home at 1am sunday morning. first i washed it to see what i had. got down to work by preping the shell and doing the nessesary cutting for the FMIC and cleaning. more pics at. http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...8/AWD%20shell/ next it was time to do some more work. fixed up some odds and ends in the harness. MAF harness has some splits in wire insulation, fixed the ECU harness , had a "box" wired in to the rear O2 so it didnt throw a code. rewired the fuel pump, 10gauge deicated 12v feed and a 8gauge deicated ground. mildly degreased trans and xcase. more pics at http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...8/AWD%20shell/ more parts came. the WORK had begun! last time the red car would move under its own power. kinda hard setting aside your first car the turbo still looks clean enough to eat off of after daily driven for just under 7 months. gettin there.... put one of the rims on to see how it would look with the prokits. done for the night. whats was left to do: axles clutch line 2 motor mounts then she is ready to pull 3 days of work Friday: stripped red car on every thing but 2 motor mounts and the axles. Saturday: pulled the motor out, did the clutch, put the motor back in. got all the "big" things done like axles and tcase, motor mount etc. Sunday : finished up with pluming ,mounted intercooler. did the wiring for the 6 bolt motor and for the 3.5bar GM map (thanks nick A). whats left to do: -bleed clutch -get downpipe welded and installed -trim front bumber -install fuel pump -rear camber kit -fill with coolant -put 2 interior trim peices back on then i can say DONE. looks like this is going to take 1 and a half weekends. pics: SATURDAY: SUNDAY: here are some final pics of it sitting the garage. All done. more pic: http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...8/homeworkpix/ at the wisconsin DSM dells meet. a lil idle video. recorded on a picture camera, not best quality. turn up the sound to hear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdFP5tju-O0 well i copy pasted that off of a local DSM fourm. this all took place over abouple of months. from feb-april. -Jake Jeske

That's a bad ass talon man. Looks like you put alot of work into it. Hopefully it will treat you well. Have you had it dynoed or taken it to the track yet?

That red car was purty. I love the way the old school side skirts look. Atleast you didn't mess it up bad. That black car though, is fucking clean!
But I'm sorry, there is no way I could just take the engine out of a perfectly fine car like that. I hope your going to do something with it.

Re: Wow, so much has happened(update: lots-o-pics)
Well the stock 6 bolt that was running at 30psi for 2 years finally took a dump.
The new build. The plan: -Built 2.0L 6 bolt. -New block. -Same built head. -Respray engine bay. Picked up this virgin block and crank from a local WiDSM member over the summer. Some of the parts... ACL tri-metal bearing Crower Rods Ross 8.3:1 pistions .020 over gaskets hardware seals Some shot I took before I put her away last summer. old motor out [/quote] Bought the last batch of parts. I have all the major pieces(might be a couple bolts or seals I need to get later). Here is my updated parts list. Felpro Multi-layer gasket & ARP "L19" head studs Crower I-Beam rods OEM main studs Ross Racing Forged Aluminum Pistons 8.3:1 CR HKS Fine Tune Timing Belt -OEM front case with straight cut oil pump gears -OEM water pump -Clear cam gear cover -OEM gaskets and seals -OEM BS eliminator kit -3rd gen revised lifters -OEM timing components -new turbo feed -new wideband 02 sensor -NKG 2 step colder plugs New Saturn 105amp alternator(Saturn alt swap FTW) In the next couple week I will be taking the block and parts to C&S to have them do the machining and assemble the bottom end. I know it seems as though I forgot the bearings, but I did not. I am waiting for the machine shop to measure my crank first so I know what size bearings I will need. The bearings will be ACL Tri-metal race bearings. Also picked up this little beauty from a member on DSMLink forums. more to come...
