crossthreaded nut on tire broke.....

hi i have a 99 chevy malibu
one of the nuts on the front left tire was put back incorrectly and got messed up (crossthreaded) and my dad tried to tighten it (He forgot it was messed up, stupid move) and it broke off

can i still drive the car or is it dangerous to drive now?

how much will it cost to get fixed as well

thanks

Re: crossthreaded nut on tire broke.....

it should be ok to to drive if you have four bolts left, you can get a new nut and bolt from the auto parts store for under 15 bucks, take the tire off, that the brake caliper off, take the rotor off,
if the bolt is in the rotor beat it out with a large punch and hammer, the put the new one in tapping it into place
if it is in the wheel bearring hub assembly beat it out with a hammer and large punch, then insert the new one, then put some washers on the bolt and put the nut on backwards and slowly tighten the nut to seat the new bolt
