Engine Additives
Anyone recommend or have any comments about any motor additives like
DuraLube engine treatment, DuraLube Automatic Transmission treatment, Engine Restore, Motor Flush, or Oils for high milage cars? Are these ok to use? Do they work? I have 70k miles on my 2002 Neon and am thinking specifically about adding a DuraLube Engine treatment quart. Thanx for any comments. -Tom |

They are all snake oil. They either do nothing or they are harmful.

Re: Engine Additives
You know, I used plain old stp a few years back and one of my boys hit something in the middle of winter. I started the car the next day not knowing in 35 below weather, went in the house for a coffee. .Came out about 4 minutes later, the engine was steaming and ready to explode. There was not a drop of oil in it. To make it short, some how the engine did not explode. I changed the pan added oil and drove it with no noticeable damage what so ever. Beats me, but I think the stp saved the day.
