Re: Trunk will not latch down

I would like to follow up on this question.

On the old part when I press down on the female part where the peg from the hatch door engages, there is no mechanical holding of the peg. Got a new latch from ford and cannot get it to engage either. Looked at a new focus and you can engage it.

Would find it hard to believe an electrical component is needed for the engaging. Did I just get a bad part????

Old part number was ys4z-5443150-aa, new part number was a11628774

It looks like you have to destroy the old part to get the key mechanism out?

Between a suburban, lincoln and focus, I am getting a whale of an education.

Re: Re: Trunk will not latch down

It Looks Like The Electrical Connection Needs To Be Made And Key Installed To Get It To Latch.....still Seems Strange To Me But It Finally Worked

Cost Of Part Was About $72.

If You Buy A 90 Degree Pick And Grind To About 1/8 Inch You Can Get The Lock To Release Without Destroying It.

Before Installing The Lock, Make Sure The Plastic Part It Engages Is Turned As Far To The Left As Possible.
