HELP with what to buy.....

I'm trying to figure out if i want a Camaro or a Mustang. I know i want a mid-90's with the bad-ass motor in it. I need your help on what I should get and why...If you know any stock hp/tq ratings that would be some great help.Is there anything wrong with any of the certain years of camaro's or mustangs???THANKS

Look for a 95 LT1 F-body. Its OBD I, and has a vented optispark. If you have the money look for any LS1 F-body (98-02), but the 01-02 are the best of the LS1's. They have LS6 intakes, revised cam and exhaust headers.

Fox, and SN95 body Mustangs are cool but the power is very lacking. It take a fair amount of money to get one to run with a stock LT1, and more money to get one to run with a stock LS1.

LT1 Z28, T/A 93-95 275hp
LT1 Z28, T/A 96-97 285hp
Both are really about 290-300hp

LS1 Z28, T/A 98-99 305hp
LS1 Z28, T/A 00-02 310hp
Both are really about 340-350hp

5.0L Foxes and 94-95 SN95 are 215hp
4.6L SN95 (96-98) are 215-230hp I think.
1999 and later SN95 are 260hp in GT form.

If you get a Stang at least get a SN95 Cobra.

I'd definately go with a camaro if you are looking at mid 90's used cars , they are still fast by todays standards and are really nice looking cars , of course I'm a little biased I bet. They are faster than the 'stangs of the same period however.

By the way NICE car:smoker2:

1995 F-bodys are the best if you are going for power in a LT1. They are OBDI. OBDI stands for On Board Diagnostics - One, it is the first generation CPU that monitors you emisons to tell you when there is a problem. On an OBDI car your SES light only comes on when there is an emissions problem, or catastrophic engine failure.

OBDII is better in thet you can monitor all you engine sensors with a scanner. But is more restrictive in that the SES light comes on easier. Simple mods such as a small cam can cause it to came on. An SES light coming on doesn't necessarily hurt your engine but is very annoying.

OBDI responds better (to major mods by not throwing SES codes) to major mods like, heads, cam, Longtube headders, etc... with no computer tuning.

Optispark's are the distrubuter's on LT1 engines. The vented Opti's are more reliable than the the non-venti opti's. Opti's don't like moisture at all, and the vented Opti's use a vacume tube from the intake manifold to the Opti to keep moisture out of the Opti.

Aftermarket headders for 94-95 LT1's flow a little better than aftermarket headder for 96-97 LT1 due to the larger secondary tubes. the secondary tubes are better becaust of the Y-pipe design. In 96-97 LT1's got a dual-cat Y-pipe verses the single-cat Y-pipe in 93-95 LT1's. GM added an extra 10hp to 96-97 LT1's because of the new Y-pipe design. There are a couple of comanys that make aftermarket Y-pips for 94-95 cars ahat are cheap, but only one makes Y-pipes for 96-97 cars and it's expensive. Alot of 96-97 owners switch to 94-95 exhaust setup.

Camaros are a little lighter than T/A's, because T/A's have all the options, and the body pannels are less. They are the same car except for the options, and the body.

If you have any more questions please ask.
