Lost power steering. I know many models of Ford have had issues with losing power steering. any one find a way to fix diy style?

It's either update the software for the steering control module, may not be a long term fix or replace the steering rack, not an easy job. Depends on what codes if any are stored in the system. There is still an open investigation by the NHTSA concerning electric steering issues. They reopened it, possibly late 2017?, after numerous complaints kept coming in regarding the electric steering on 2010's. Have no clue as to what will be the outcome. You do know that there was a recall issued for certain cars only, lots of vehicles were left in the lurch. I have two 2010 Fusions one SEL V6 and a Hybrid. Both have not experienced this issue. Hybrid has door sticker date of 06/10, SEL has 12/08.
